Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge- Roads

TELFORDS-BRIDGE-N-bb

Telfords Conwy Suspension Bridge, North Wales

Roads are the topic for this weeks B&W Challenge, so I guess this fits right in.  Thomas Telford built this bridge in 1826.  It is the first ever Suspension Bridge in the world to carry a road.  The Bridge crosses the River Conwy replacing an earlier ferry. Amazingly the road over the Bridge was still a main road till 1958 when it was eventually superseded.

Make the Most of the Sun…..

DOI_7917_00024-bbtt.jpg

Early morning, Allestree Lake

All is calm and the sun is shining over our lake this morning, the leaves are starting to burst and we now getting a hint of colour to the tops of the trees.

But best make the most of this sunshine and warmth as we are told the brief spell of fabulous spring weather is about to come to a bitterly cold stop. Winds from the artic and a low to the south are to blame according to the Met. Office who are even suggesting that the icy winds will bring us some snow to the higher grounds.

In our garden the Spring bulbs have after a slow start provided us with a great colour packed display.

Taking advantage of the last of the current allocation of sunshine are the Tulips, opening their petals wide to capture as much heat as possible (and allowing easy access for the hungry Bees)….

Most of our Daffodils have come to the end of their flowering season but a few of the dwarf varieties are still hanging on with a final golden flourish…
