Fortrose Cathedral, The Black Isle, Scotland
A once very grand Scottish Cathedral stand roofless. Its heyday’s were in the 13th Century and no doubt none of those who worked and worship there could foresee that Oliver Cromwell would arrive on the scene in the 17th century and begin to rob the cathedral of stone and roofing materials.
Located on the Black Isle above the Moray Firth, and although an empty shell, Fortrose Cathedral stands proud in the centre of this ancient town of the same name. Still a majestic building and well worth a visit.
