Cees Black and White Photo Challenge – Open Topic

Torshaven, Faroe Islands

Have fun was the instruction from Cee for this weeks B&W Photo Challenge which although it may seem odd reminded me of our first day in the Faroe Islands.

We were at Torshaven.  It is the capital and largest city on the Faroe Islands….but by European standards it is rather small, compact, a cluster of red wooden houses surround the harbour and the town spreads out beyond.

I am told it does rain a good deal on the Faroes… so as if it was compulsory it rained all the day we were in Torshaven.  Milky skies that at times turned very grey and an insistent drizzle that was sometimes heavy.

It was still fun exploring the harbour and narrow street in the old part of the town but I just had to get some images of the harbour…..so with camera enclosed in a plastic bag, an elastic band around the lens hood we gave it a go….I also thought that B&W might just add some atmosphere and capture a moody Torshaven…..a rather pleasent mood we will remember.

(Note to self…must go back when the sunshine’s ! )
