The Old Bent Oak, Stanton Moor, Derbyshire
It might have been sunny at times yesterday but it was also very cold. The wind was strong and coming straight down from the Polar north.
You can see which way the prevailing wind blows. But this Oak wasn’t bending in yesterday winds. This stunted and uniquely bent tree has looked like this for well over 40 years, as long as I have known it…..always surprised to see that each spring it still produces a fresh head of bright green leaves.
As for those dark clouds, well they kept passing over all day, driven by that wind, but we didn’t get wet.
